This is unfortunately the lot of most multiplayer games one day or another: the closing of servers. Many “old” Ubisoft games will suffer this fate at the start of the school year, to the chagrin of the diehards still present.

Don’t worry, we’re not talking about the servers of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siegeof Trackmania (2020) or even of just dancebut older titles, released for the majority during the PS3 / Xbox 360 generation.

15 Ubisoft games will bow out on various media

Generations which, a priori, no longer attract the majority of players, but some titles remained played by enthusiasts or by those who did not have the means to afford the following machines. From the September 1, 2022, 15 games will have their online features disabled depending on the mediawithout becoming inaccessible (except one).

The single-player campaigns and modes will therefore always be playable, with some limitations in the event that some of its games have online features in their solo. Among the games that will be dispossessed of their multiplayer component at the start of the school year, we find several opuses of the Assassin’s Creed license, Far Cry 3 or even Splinter Cell Blacklist ! The most recent is Space Junkies, released in 2019 on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality and PS VR. The complete list of titles whose servers will close has been revealed by Ubisoft. Thereby are concerned :

Closing online services for some older games allows us to focus our resources on providing great experiences for players playing newer or more popular titles. To help us achieve this goal, a number of older titles will be added to our list of decommissioned online services, Ubisoft said on its blog.
