Revealed in 2021, Tinykin is a game that exudes good humor and promises beautiful summer evenings. We tested the demo for you.

Bi-annual event, Microsoft kicked off the ID@Xbox Game Fest Demo on Monday. The opportunity to discover 34 game extracts for a week. One of the headliners was Tinykin, this ultra colorful Pikmin-like that has had the opportunity to test itself a handful of times already. Developed by the French indie studio Splashteam and published by tinyBuild, it was first revealed at E3 2021. We follow Milo, a tiny being compared to Men who has just landed on Earth and seeks to return to his planet to regain its normal size.

A lovely universe

In addition to taking as its setting an absolutely adorable and colorful Minimoys-style world, Tinykin enjoys excessively cute melodies, sung by equally playful little creatures. Milo moves at full speed aboard the soap-skate, a vehicle capable of sliding on the silk threads woven by pretty balls of fur called the Ridmi. As you will have understood, the universe is quite particular in its own way and is quite charming. The soap skate allows particularly pleasant movements in the large rooms visited, while the hero also has a hovering bubble which extends his jumps and can venture on a slew of bouncy surfaces. Exploration therefore benefits from very good sensations for the moment. We will only blame a slightly crazy camera and a perspective that is not always obvious.

At the heart of a house that seems giant, Milo evolves in cities inhabited by ants or heaps of beetles. In this world of giant humans, he will have to help himself with tinykins, nice creatures capable of different powers such as blowing up annoying obstacles or carrying objects that are a little too heavy. These are waiting to be unearthed by you in every corner of the map. It is thus a question of accumulating them, saving them and using one or more of them on the highlighted elements. The actions trigger Catch’Mouse-style mechanisms allowing you to progress with very good verticality. The demo is rather generous and is full of small activities to accomplish.

The game is scheduled for release on August 30 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. And it’s probably not to be missed.
