Then released on Linux and Mac in 2020 then on iOS and Android in 2020, the game has had many years to be optimized, to see its various bugs fixed, etc… However, despite such “seniority”, the Switch version released in June 2022 is simply broken. Indeed, several players have reported in recent days a bug preventing them from advancing in the adventure. The Aspyr studio has just confirmed its existence on Twitter and on their support sitewhere we can read:

A port that has not been tested by Aspyr?
According to the majority of testimonies, the game crashes at the time of the Basilik Crash cutsceneon arrival at the Onderon planet. As an article of Kotaku points out, it is quite worrying: indeed, this cutscene comes about halfway through the adventure. It therefore raises many questions about how the Switch version was QA tested. In effect, such a disabling bug, halfway through the game, should have been spotted very quickly. If he was, how is it possible that this bug has not been fixed before the release? Even if he had been spotted too late, one might have expected that Aspyr warns players that a crash was possible at this moment.
In short, you will have to wait for the patch to be able to finish KOTOR 2 on Switch. Luckily for Aspyr, KOTOR 2 is an excellent Obsidian RPG, and many players will have the patience to wait for the fix, because the wait is worth it. It remains to be seen whether Aspyr will offer compensation to players for the inconvenience caused, given that it This is a simple port of an already old game and that this bug should have been spotted and fixed very early in the Switch porting process. All the more for a studio that boasts of its skills in porting games to new audiences.
