Game news Star Wars KOTOR 2: faced with the bad buzz of the bug on Nintendo Switch, the developers reassure
You may have heard of it: the port of the mythical Star Wars KOTOR 2 on Nintendo Switch seems to be… broken. A bug appearing halfway through the game would simply prevent players from continuing their game, thus causing great suspicion about the development of the title. Yes, except…
It’s the little controversy of the moment, which we won’t tell you about later only yesterday : wearing the cult title Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lordsoriginally released in 2005, seems broken according to many accounts. A bug occurring “after Basilisk Crash cutscene when landing on Onderon” (about halfway through the adventure) simply prevents the game from continuing.
Beyond the inconvenience caused, it is the Aspyr studio which is then singled out: how come such a studio didn’t realize this and met the standards for internal testing? A real bad buzz that the American firm has to deal with… which however allowed itself to temper the enthusiasm.
An exaggerated problem?
It is Stephen Totilo, personality of the renowned video game industry working for Axios, who split a small press release on Twitter.
Reports of a bug preventing all Knights of the Old Republic II players from completing the game seem exaggerated.
An Aspyr rep tells me the bug “only affects a small number of users” and will be fixed. Aspyr has released a cheat code (!) to pass it.
The many news articles I saw about this yesterday came from a tweet from Aspyr with confusing terms.
According to Aspyr therefore, the problem encountered would only happen for a minority of players and what’s more, a cheat code has been unveiled to pass the bug if ever encountered. A makeshift means while waiting for the deployment of a patch that we know is officially in preparation. Here is the official description from the developers:
For now, our suggested workaround is to get past the point where the game crashes using the cheat menu. To do this, triple-click the left stick, open the hints menu, and select “Warp.” We recommend moving to a random location on the game selection screen before the cutscene. Then follow the same steps as above to upgrade to OND504. Make sure you don’t head to the Merchant District because your game will crash.
In short, we hope that the update will come soonit will still be easier for everyone.
