These are elite units, soldiers whose stories are told in the cinema: from October 12, 2022 to January 29, 2023, the Army Museum reveals the history of the Special Forces through an immersive exhibition.

This exposure is exceptional in more ways than one: for the first time, the Army museum highlights the French special forces, a discreet military group, operating around the world. These elite soldiers, their modus operandi, their equipment and their history are highlighted from October 12, 2022 to January 29, 2023 through the exhibition Special forces.

From the Second World War to the present day, this intervention force has been mobilized in many Conflicts. These wars are part of the‘story special forces, and reflect theevolution of this group linked to the Army, the National Navy, the Air and Space Forces as well as the Armed Forces Health Service. The museum wishes to emphasize the importance of the action and the role of special forces in military conflicts, but also in periods of peace.

The Army Museum therefore deciphers for us the way in which selected, trained and trained these men and women, who are part of the army’s elite units.

For the first time, the general public can learn more about Operational modesthe specific techniques, the equipment and thearmament dedicated to special forces, which usually act with the utmost discretion. Some of this equipment is unveiled in broad daylight for the whole first time !

We also find different objects and documents provided by State services, French and foreign national heritage institutions, the halls of honor of special forces units, private collections, or even by industrialists… A rich journey filled with surprises, which should fascinate neophytes as well as the most informed.

Part of this exhibition also questions the image of the special forces in the movie theater, a picture skewed by many factors. Reality and fiction confront each other in the stories put forward by the Musée de l’Armée. This image also refers us to our conception of war and violence, of what can be shown and said, and of what is hidden.

This already incredible exhibition is made even more exceptional by the immersive scenographywhich plays with images and multimedia devices to transport us to the heart of the matter.
