All day, the rumor grew, and finally, the “insiders” were right: the Jazz turns a page, and even a chapter of its history, since Rudy Gobert is transferred to Wolves! The French pivot arrives in a very ambitious franchise, and he will team up with Karl-Anthony Towns, one of his toughest opponents. Which also means that “KAT” will move to position 4, and the Wolves will present themselves with their version of the “Twin Towers”.
In return, ESPN announces that the Jazz receives only extra players: Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, rookie Walker Kessler, Leandro Bolmaro and Jarred Vanderbilt. But also several first draft rounds (in 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029), and the possibility of exchanging his first draft round in 2026. The Wolves went all-in!
Utah wants to rebuild around Donovan Mitchell
Apparently, Danny Ainge decided to start from scratch, as he liked to do in Boston, and ESPN announces that the new management would like to rebuild around Donovan Mitchell!
On the Wolves side, the new president Tom Connelly has hit very hard, and his formation presents a superb five: D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Kyle Anderson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. On the bench, Jaylen Nowell, Naz Reid, Jaden McDaniels, Taurean Prince. With an additional playmaker and ‘offensive joker’ to be found in the ‘free agency’, it can hurt a lot.
Two anecdotes about this transfer:
- Minnesota is the only franchise to have two players with contracts worth $200 million or more!
- In 2013, Tim Connelly, then GM of the Nuggets, traded the 27th pick to the Jazz, and Urah picked Rudy Gobert…
