AlloCiné tells you which films are coming to Netflix in July 2022. Mark your calendars!
July 22: The Gray Man
The Gray Man is the title of Netflix’s summer action movie but also the name of the CIA’s most talented mercenary whose identity no one knows. Everything changes when he accidentally discovers the agency’s dark secrets. His former killer colleague, a bit psychopathic, puts a price on his head and launches a huge manhunt.
Accustomed to Marvel blockbusters, Anthony and Joe Russo have been entrusted with the production of The Gray Man, which can count on a five-star cast: Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, Jessica Henwick.
July 8: Dangerous Liaisons
Netflix seizes the literary monument of Choderlos de Laclos, adapted many times on the big and small screen, to transpose it nowadays to the era of social networks. This version 2.0 of Dangerous Liaisons, written and produced by Rachel Switzerlandwill follow Célène, a romantic teenager, who falls under the spell of the bad boy of his new high school in Biarritz without knowing that he has made a bet at his expense with a formidable influencer.
In the cast, we find the influencer Paola Locatelli (also starring in the series Chair Tendre, soon on Francetv slash and awarded best French series at Series Mania) who plays Célène, and Simon Rérolle (Girlsquad), who plays Tristan. We also find Alexis Michalik (director of Edmond) in the skin of Christophe.
July 8: The Sea Monster
After Moana, the Legend at the End of the World, American filmmaker Chris Williams tells us about another aquatic epic with Le Monstre des mers, an original Netflix animation production. We follow the great Jacob Holland, hunter of famous watches, at a time when terrifying creatures roam the seas.
A true hero among heroes, Jacob Holland sees his daily life turned upside down when the young Maisie Brumble embarks on his legendary ship, he finds in her an unexpected ally. Together they embark on an epic journey through uncharted waters and make history. In the voice cast, we can note the presence of Karl Urban and Jared Harris.
July 15: Persuasion
Jane Austen’s last complete novel, published in 1817, Persuasion is being adapted for Netflix by director Carrie Cracknell. This costume drama, worn by Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding, Cosmo Jarvis, but also Richard E. Grant and Suki Waterhouse, should charm the most romantic.
Persuasion tells how Anne Elliot, a modern, non-conformist young woman who lives with her snobbish family but on the verge of bankruptcy, will question a decision made years ago. She had indeed dismissed Captain Frederic Wentworth years ago, but her return will upset Anne, who will have to put an end to the past or give this romance a second chance.
