Marvel: Kevin Feige wants even more Thor after Love and Thunder

Marvel: Kevin Feige wants even more Thor after Love and Thunder

Whereas Thor: Love and Thunder could conclude the franchise of Marvel, Kevin Feige would like that Chris Hemsworth keeps his superhero role in the MCU.

If MCU Phase 4 introduces a whole new guard after Avengers: Endgame with The Eternals, Shang Chi, Miss Marvel Where Moon Knight, she will also soon recall one of the founding members of the extended universe. The next THor: Love and Thunder realized by Taika Waititi will be the fourth part of the franchise started in 2011, be Marvel’s longest – Captain America 4 acting more like a reboot with Anthony Mackie in the costume.

The former Asgardian will however have to share the poster with another god of thunder, or rather another goddess of thunder, since Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) will inherit – we don’t yet know how or why – Mjolnir and the powers that go with it. But unlike Kate Bishop and Hawkeye, Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova or Bruce Banner and Jennifer Walters, the idea of a passing of the torch between the two characters immediately seems less plausible. As well as the fact that Natalie Portman can commit to a longer term with the studio after the disappointments of Phase 2 and her disappearance from Phase 3.

A little movie and then go away?

On the occasion of the latest issue of Total Moviethe producer and honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that the film was not thought of as the end of the saga or the last stand of the superhero: “What I do know is that there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that are talked about a lot, and as we see Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a great actor talent, I would be excited to see how he would continue to evolve this complex character.”

The actor being more and more popular (especially on Netflix with Tyler Rake or more recently Spiderhead), it seems logical that Marvel wants to keep its colt with super sympathy capital on its side. For Chris Hemsworth, a return is always possible provided you try to do something different each time (we know the refrain):

Each time, if the opportunity arises, I will be open to all creative explorations through different writers and directors and so on. I love playing the character, really. But we always come back to the following question: “Is this scenario different from the previous one? Are we repeating something?” And when it gets too much the same, I guess that’s when I should say [non]. In fact, I would like to leave before people tell me to leave.

Thor could still follow the trajectory of Tony Stark who only had three solo films, but then made many other appearances, until cannibalizing Captain America: Civil War and come to the fore Avengers: Age of Ultron. The output of Love and Thunder next July 13 in French cinemas will probably give some answers on a potential sequel or on the return of the god of thunder in search of inner peace.
