“We need a wall of expression. It would also be nice to repaint the frescoes under the Embankment. »
These were Eric Berthomé’s wishes at the start of the year.
The president of R-Street did not think so well.
While the artists produced frescoes here and there, often for private individuals, the association knocked on the door of the town hall. To be received by Jean-François Dejean, Culture Assistant, and heard.
It is true that the fresco created 17 years ago under the Embankment was starting to get tired.
At the time, the ephemeral association “Art sur Mer” allowed 50 artists to color the walls of the beach, twice, one year apart.
A 340m fresco created in two days
This time, R-Street has scheduled to paint the giant 340 m fresco in two days, on October 15 and 16. From Bikini Plage to Le Repaire rotunda. From Saturday 10 a.m. to Sunday 8 p.m., the artists will work to restore color to the walls of the beach, previously repainted by the city services.
In charge of the project, Eric Berthomé, alias Joks, did not do half measures to invite all these beautiful people, including some big names in graffiti. “They come from everywhere, Perpignan, Lille, Evreux, Biscarrosse. We will also welcome “crews” (Editor’s note: groups) such as ACC, A2M or VEC. The specialists will appreciate.
But R-Street will also receive local artists. “We welcome graffiti artists and artists. »
Thus, Polpino will be there, as will the talented AnnC’.
“The beach gardener Zarpo will also be present to beautify the sand with his rakes. »
The theme: aquariums and seabed
“The theme is imposed: it’s aquariums and seabed”, slips the graffiti artist from Sables-d’Olonne. The link with the ocean is found.
This project is supported by the municipality (paint and spray cans) and by private partners.
The city is colored, especially with the gigantic fresco created on the silos of the Cavac.
In a little more than three months, there will be a very nice animation on the Grande beach of Les Sables-d’Olonne. Fans are eager to discover the artists’ gigantic works.
