After having triumphed in 2021 with his film Kaamelott: First Part, Alexandre Astier will soon be honored at a very special event.

Most viewed French film in theaters in 2021, Kaamelott: First Part was the long-awaited reward for fans of Kaamelott, whose patience has been sorely tested after twelve long years of waiting. Whereas the actor-director-screenwriter-editor-composer is already working on the second part of his trilogy (Astier had announced great news earlier in the year), we learn that he has just received great recognition!
In effect, Alexandre Astier has been appointed President of the La Baule Festival, which honors film music. The 2022 edition will be held from June 29 to July 3, 2022. Astier and his jury, made up of Anne Parillaud, Pascal Elbé, Mélanie Doutey and Pascale Arbillot, will award eight prizes to the six French films in competition. Among them, the animated movie Le Petit Nicolas – What are we waiting for to be happy?which looks back on the creation of the series by René Goscinny and Sempéand which moved everyone at the 2022 Annecy Festival. When we know Astier’s love for the work of René Goscinny (he wrote and co-directed two animated films Asterix), it may well be that this very promising animated film wins some awards.
That Alexandre Astier is appointed President of the 2022 edition of the La Baule Festival is a great recognition for the creator of Kaamelott. Indeed, as his fans know, before being a recognized actor, screenwriter and director, Astier was at the conservatory.
