1. The return of projections on the Pâquier
This is THE good news for this 2022 edition, which will take place in the evening from June 13 to 18. Le Pâquier will host two large screens for free outdoor screenings. A small novelty, a “daylight” screen will allow families to come earlier, for sessions starting at 8 p.m. Moreover, the launch of the festival will take place on the Pâquier at 10:15 p.m. on the evening of Sunday June 12, with the screening of the film The Bad Guys. And why pay a ticket to the cinema to go see Bad Guys when it is broadcast for free on the Pâquier?
2. Crazy previews
Festival-goers will have the privilege of attending film screenings before everyone else. At the opening of the Festival and as a world preview, Minions 2: Once Upon a Time Gru. They will also enjoy the first images of: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ; Puss in Boots 2: The Last Quest ; Ernest and Celestine, the Journey to Charabie or even Buzz Lightning. Michel Ocelot, the creator of Kirikou will present his latest work: The Pharaoh, the Savage and the Princess.
3. Stars galore
Big names in animation cinema will be present at the festival. Among all the names welcomed to Annecy, Michel Ocelot, in addition to presenting his latest feature film, will receive a Cristal d’honneur on Tuesday June 14. Michel Hazanavicius, the director of the first two OSS 117s, will be welcomed during the Work in progress sessions to present his first feature film: The most precious of goods. Jennifer Lee, director of Frozen 2 and creative director of Disney Animation Studios will also be awarded a Crystal of Honour. The actress Aïssa Maïga will also be present.
4. The festival is easy to get to
The festival takes place throughout the city of Annecy, with multiple distribution points. The Pathé cinema, of course, Bonlieu, the Pâquier, the Turbine, the Mikado, the castle-museum, the Imperial, the art and history conservatory, the Seynod town hall square, the media library de Seynod, the Paper Mills, the Pierre-Lamy room, the Pommaries park. But that’s not all, since the festival travels throughout the Haute-Savoie department, with screenings in the arthouse cinemas of Annemasse, Cluses, La Roche-sur-Foron, Saint- Julien-en-Genevois, from Thorens-Glières, and at La Trace in Villard. Finally, the cinebus will go to Cusy, Reignier-Ésery and Frangy.
5. Behind-the-scenes exhibitions
In addition to the screenings, the festival offers five exhibitions dedicated to animation cinema. Among them, the behind-the-scenes exploration of the filming of my zucchini life (Claude Barras), which was a great success in 2016. At Annecy station, an exhibition dedicated to Petit Nicolas will also be presented to the public.
