Game News God of War Ragnarok: The Game Map Features the Nine Realms
Presented yesterday, the Jotnar Collector’s Edition of God of War Ragnarok will feature a cloth map, letting us see what the game map should look like.
God of War Ragnarok propose to several collectors editionsone of which, the Jotnar Edition, will feature a tissue card. We could notice that the nine kingdoms were represented there …
The nine kingdoms finally visitable?
If the hub of god of warthe Lake of Nine, had gates to all realmsthose who have finished the game know that some were closed. Indeed, the reboot of the saga released in 2018 did not allow no access to all realmssince they were simply not modeled in the game. Of the nine realms, four are visited during the main storyMidgard, Alfeim, Helheim and Jötunheim, two can be visited at your choice for supporting content, Niflheim and Muspelheim. Asgard, Vanaheim and Svartalfheim are inaccessible. But it seems very likely that God of War Ragnarok finally gives us the opportunity to visit them all !
A tissue map that allows us to hope to see all the kingdoms
Indeed, in the above video of presentation of the Collector and Jotnar editions, we were able to see the contents of the latter. And precisely, it includes a cloth game map, depicting the nine kingdoms in a stylized version. It presents a text in runes, the world-tree Yggdrasil and the nine kingdoms. We therefore plan to be able to visit all kingdoms in the gamethis is an opportunity to see what we can detect on this card!
The Jotnar edition map. To follow the details presented to you below, we invite you to click on them and zoom in.
From the base of the tree to the top (you can see the runes that represent them, on the map):
Helheim / Niflheim / Muspelheim
Svartalfheim / Midgard / Vanaheim
Alfheim / Jotunheim / Asgard
fans on Reddit have in particular spotted a silhouette standing in the background of Muspelheim. Many imagine that it is surely Surtur, the Fire Demon, Lord of Muspelheimand above all a preponderant character of Ragnarok! Surtur ignites and causes the destruction of the world, after the clash between the Aesir and the sons of Muspell, led by Surtur. A character as important in the stories of Ragnarok would therefore logically have its place in a game called God of War Ragnarok.
Fans noticed Asgard, at the very top of Yggdrasil. The world of Aesir should notably be the place where Thor resides, who will also have a major place in the game’s story. the Bifrost, the rainbow bridgewhich springs from Asgard in the representation of the map.
We can also see a snake, around the compass, which could be Nidhogg. Indeed, Nidhogg is a snake that gnaws the roots of Yggdrasiland the sept shown on the map has one of the roots of the world-tree in the mouth. It is therefore not the Serpent-world Jörmungandr that we could already see in the previous opus.
To the left of Muspelheim, a squirrel seems to be resting on a root of Yggdrasil. It is certainly about Ratatosk, the squirrel that comes and goes on the world tree. He is known for going from the roots to the top, in order to bring back the words of Nidhogg, the serpent, to the nameless eagle (sometimes called Vidofnir). Indeed, as long as he maintains the hatred between these two predators, he does not have to fear them. Around Ratatosk you will notice four deer. These are probably Dain, Duneyr, Durathror and Dvalinfour deer running through the branches of the world-tree feeding on its foliage.
In short, this map seems to be full of detail, and it is certain that we have not yet spotted them all. In any case, it still announces a game rich in references to Norse mythologyto be discovered throughout the adventure.
God of War Ragnarok will be released on November 9, 2022 on PS5 and PS4.
