This summer, those who will not have the chance to go on vacation or who have simply chosen to stay at home, will be able to participate in a multitude of activities that the City of Mons will offer during the two months of vacation. The slogan is simple and clear: “We’ll show you. Stay here this summer”.
Events, exhibitions, festivals, gardens, shows… The program was unveiled by the mayor of Mons Nicolas Martin, the alderwoman for Culture Catherine Houdart and the director of Mons Performing Arts Philippe Degeneffe.
For this fourth edition of “Destination Mons”, a very wide choice of activities will enliven the city to the rhythm of friendly, family and above all free meetings.
The ephemeral gardens will reopen their doors from July 29 to August 21 on the Grand’Place. You can admire horticultural works, flowerbeds or charming wooded paths. Summer gardens will be held on the same dates on the Place du Marché-aux-Herbes where a green space and furniture will be installed, fun activities, outdoor games awaiting children but also adults.
Sports bike rides are planned for Sundays July 31 and August 28. A way to discover the Mons region by pedaling! Every Sunday in July and August, lovers of salsa, bachata, kizomba or any other Latin dance will meet on the Grand’Place, in the heart of the ephemeral gardens to dance all afternoon.
Also back, the DJ afterworks, organized every Thursday in July and August between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. in a friendly atmosphere. Nine evenings are scheduled. To celebrate the national holiday, a big party is planned on the Grand’Place with DJ, music and the traditional fireworks.
