Diablo IV: an open world and a new class…

After a first passage with Overwatch 2Blizzard once again distinguished itself at the Xbox Bethesda conference on Summer Game Fest 2022 with Diablo IV. The developers took advantage of the event to share their progress on the game with a trailer of more than four minutes (to view above). For example, they mentioned that players will be able to explore the world of Sanctuary “as they wish” with many objectives to achieve or not: the Bastions will be places to cleanse of their demonic residents in order to obtain treasures.

Beyond that, Blizzard also unveiled the new and final class of Diablo IV: it will be the necromancer. Already present in Diablo III: Reaper of the Soul, this character’s mechanics will revolve around death and resuscitation in order to bend the dead to their will. Blizzard promises more information about the class in a new article posted tomorrow on the site.

Diablo IV: multiplayer and release date, what you need to know

In addition, Blizzard has also provided details regarding the title’s multiplayer: Diablo IV will support crossplay, cross-platform shared progression, and local co-op. On this subject, the game will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One but also on new generation consoles with the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. Regarding the release date, Blizzard did not come empty-handed: Diablo IV is expected in 2023!

Until today, the release period was unknown: although announced at BlizzCon 2019, players were expecting a release around 2021 or even 2022. Blizzard assured last year that Diablo IV will not be released in 2021 before declaringplan a later launch than expected“. In any case, Diablo IV has never been so close to its release.

About the Summer Game Fest

What is Summer Game Fest?

No E3 this year, but we can still count on another world-class event: the Summer Game Fest, a big show dedicated to announcements of video games to come this year or the following years. It was in 2020 that journalist and host Geoff Keighley launched this now unmissable festival for the first time. Last year, the show featured stunning images from Elden Ring; so inevitably, the third iteration raises high expectations.

When does Summer Game Fest 2022 start?

The Summer Game Fest is this Thursday, June 9 at 8 p.m. The show will once again be followed by a Day of the Devs session devoted to the independent scene.

Also on the program: Gotham Knights, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, the first game from Aaryn Flynn’s studio (ex-Bioware) Nightingale, the JRPG One Piece Odyssey, the free-to-play Warframe or even Planet of Lana.
