The young Brazilian, Alexsandro Ribeiro (22 years old) is from Lille! This promising central defender with an athletic profile (1m92, 88kg) played last season at GD Chaves with whom he participated in the rise in Portuguese D1. He has signed up with LOSC for a period of 4 years, i.e. until 2026.
Like many talents hatched in the sprawling urban area of Rio de Janeiro, Alexsandro Victor de Souza Ribeiro was quick to enter the radar of a major club in the Carioca conurbation. For this solid central defender born in 1999, it will be Flamengo. After training in the institution which notably shaped Carlos Mozer, Bebeto, Adriano or more recently, Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Paquetá, Alexsandro joined neighboring club Resende FC, before leaving his native Brazil for Europe. And like many Brazilian talents before him, it was through Portugal – whose linguistic and cultural proximity facilitated his adaptation – that he joined the European football scene.
Direction the SC Praiense on the Azores archipelago, from 2019. Alex reveals himself there immediately and flourishes there fully. Its place is already elsewhere, higher up. In 2020, on his way to Amora FC, in Portuguese D3 where he completed a new full season (27 games). The next step? La Liga II with GD Chaves which he joined in the summer of 2021. Again, the young Brazilian won without delay. Indisputable holder in the axis of the defense for his very first year with the pros, the one who is still anonymous in the eyes of the general public signs a season of high quality there (34 games) punctuated by an accession to D1 for his team and, on a personal basis, a place in the standard team of D2. In this championship renowned for its many talents in the making and scrutinized by scouts around the world, the Brazilian revelation does not go unnoticed. Many European clubs are looking into his profile. LOSC is one of them.
Athletic central defender (1m92, 88kg), Alexsandro nevertheless embodies much more than a physical and solid player in duels. This comfortable right-hander with both feet also relies on a good quality of passes and recovery. His aerial game is also one of his main weapons, both defensively and offensively. He also found the net three times last season. Observers also point to the intelligence of the game and the quality of placement of the central defender. His young age, however, makes him a player still in the development phase and gaining experience, on which LOSC will rely for the future.
At 22, Alexsandro is now taking a new step in his career by joining LOSC. He comes to enrich the workforce of Paulo Fonseca and the Lille central defense, in the wake of two other Portuguese speakers, José Fonte and Tiago Djaló. We wish him the best welcome, the best progress and the greatest success in our jersey.
“I am very happy to be at LOSC. It’s a dream come true for me and my family. LOSC is a big club. I can’t wait to be on the pitch, to meet the people of Lille and to bring a lot of joy to Lille and its supporters. »
“Alexsandro is a young player with great potential coming off a very successful season in the Portuguese second division. His profile is that of a central defender of the future, complete and promising, who will have the opportunity to continue his development with us in contact with experienced players in his position. Despite strong interest from many clubs, Alexsandro chose LOSC. We welcome him to Lille and the best adaptation to the French championship. »
